Buy the flowers

Too many people put off doing things while they wait for the perfect moment or someone else. They wait and wait, until it’s too late. Keep reading to learn why you should always buy the flowers.

What are you waiting for?

A few year ago, a friend looked at a vase of fresh flowers on my counter and said she never thought to buy herself flowers, even though she loves them. I buy fresh flowers all the time because they bring me joy.

Over the past few years of dating, a recurring comment from dates is that they haven’t traveled or done something because they’re waiting for a relationship.

I sometimes feel a little sad when I hear these comments (not judging) because we’re in our 40s now and so much life has past while this person is missing out on fun adventures. I’d love a good relationship, but I’m not settling. I’m happy being single until the right person comes along. So while I wait for my guy, I’m not sitting on the sidelines of life. There is way too much fun and adventures to check out!

All this brings me to: DO NOT WAIT!

Don’t wait to buy yourself flowers or travel or try activities or bring joy to your life.

Don’t wait on other people to make you happy or treat you to things you want.

Don’t sit on the sidelines of YOUR life.

Find friends, learn to enjoy your own company. Make it happen!!

You do not know what tomorrow will bring. Live for TODAY! Consider too that you could wait to meet someone, then discover that person doesn’t want to try that activity or travel to your dream destination (trust me, it happens).

If you’re a regular reader (thank you!), you know that I love LIVING my life. In fact, last year I took myself to London for a very fun birthday/cancer anniversary trip. I had been wanting to visit London for a long time and just couldn’t get coordinated with others. I didn’t want to keep putting it off. I did join a fabulous tour group so had company, but also enjoyed some fun solo excursions and relaxing.

Maybe my perspective is different since I cleared cancer three times. And I’ve seen so many people die too early, not just from cancer. People who didn’t get a chance to do all the fun things that life offers, including my dad. However, even when I went through treatment, I was looking for the next adventure and moments of laughter and joy. Even if I created it all myself. I love living. Don’t you?

What about you? Are you waiting on others or are you choosing to throw your arms open and LIVE? Comment below what you’re going to do for YOU. Then go buy the flowers!
